Soy Massage Candle Recipe for Fall

With the leaves falling and the days getting shorter, people spend more time inside, finding shelter from the cold. Fall and winter may be cold, but they are perfect seasons to give a little more attention to skin massage and nourishment.
A great soy massage candle recipe for fall calls for a spicy scent. Essential oils of cinnamon, clove or cardamom make a marvelous combination with citrus oils, especially sweet orange and tangerine.

Fall Soy Massage Candle Recipe

Ingredients

  • Ecosoya soy wax: 2.7 oz
  • Cocoa butter: 2 teaspoons
  • Sweet Almond oil: 2 teaspoons
  • Cinnamon essential oil: 10 drops
  • Sweet orange essential oil: 15 drops
  • Tangerine essential oil: 15 drops
  • Clove essential oil: 5 drops

Steps

Prepare your working space and the jar with the candle wick.

There are two ways of inserting the wick in the candle. Some like to fix the wick with a drop of melted wax to the bottom of the jar, others say you can add the wick after pouring the wax. I prefer to have the wick in place steadily before pouring the wax mixture. Mostly because it is also best to pour the mixture when it is not entirely runny anymore, which gives you very little time to get the wick in place properly after the wax has been poured.

In a double boiler (au bain marie) melt the right amount of soy wax, cocoa butter and sweet almond oil together.

Take off the heat and stir gently, to make sure all the ingredients are blended.

Let the mixture cool a few minutes while stirring, and have your essential oil(s) ready. The reason the essential oils are added right before pouring, is because they are heat-sensitive and evaporate if the wax is still too hot.

Add the essential oils and allow another one or two minutes to blend the whole mixture, before pouring it into the glass jar.

Let your candle sit overnight and enjoy the scent of your creation in the morning!

Add Cocoa Butter to a Soy Massage Candle Recipe for Extra Nourishment

Cocoa butter is amazing to nourish the skin. In the fall, when the cold sets in, use cocoa butter to soften rough skin on hands and body. The ingredients in a soy massage candle recipe are a luscious skin treat for both the person on the receiving end of the massage ànd for the hands of the person giving it. Mountain Rose Herbs’ cocoa butter is certified organic, so it doesn’t contain any traces of pesticides and other toxins.

The other ingredients in this recipe can be found at Mountain Rose Herbs as well – except for the soy wax, which I get from Amazon.
