Review: Pai Kukui & Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator

pai kukui jojoba bead skin brightening exfoliator review

Here is a review of the Pai kukui & jojoba bead skin brightening exfoliator.

Pai organic skincare is a British brand. It’s such a cliche, but true (as is often the case with cliches). Pai has taken the natural skincare world by storm. Clearly, I’m not alone in this when saying Pai is hands down one of my favorite natural skincare brands. If you try it, you’ll likely see why!

It’s a vegan, organic, cruelty-free facial scrub!

If you’re wondering whether Pai is cruelty-free and vegan, the answer is yes on both accounts! Pai is a completely vegan skincare line, it isn’t just this scrub.

What it promises to do

First off, this exfoliator is supposed to be a good match for sensitive skin, oily skin and combination skin.

It uses an ultra-gentle exfoliation system that polishes the skin, to reveal a brighter complexion.

The formula is 100% natural, and micro-bead free.

And most importantly, it is gentle enough for even the most sensitive or delicate skin. This doesn’t mean it can’t or shouldn’t be used on other skin types. What is gentle enough for sensitive skin is just as nice for everyone else!

Jojoba beads

The Pai kukui & jojoba beads skin brightening exfoliator does not contain any harsh scrubbing particles. Definitely no plastic beads (yikes!)

It has an advantage over scrubs that are salt or sugar-based. Sure, both those ingredients are totally natural. However, salt and sugar can be abrasive. They aren’t always the best for sensitive skin and more delicate areas of the body.

How to use the Pai kukui & jojoba bead skin brightening exfoliator

Using the brightening exfoliator is a two-step process.

One. Straight out of the tube comes a translucent amber-colored gel-paste, with the jojoba beads showing as little speckles. You’re supposed to apply some all over the face, massaging in small circles. The thing is, while the gel feels luscious enough, the massaging doesn’t. The gel isn’t very fluid. As a result, I end up pulling my skin in various directions more than actually massaging.

Two. With some water added (wet fingertips will do) …now this is where the magic happens! The gel transforms into milk and suddenly has a lot more glide. Pai specializes in sensitive skincare, and it becomes obvious they’re very good at what they do. At the end of step two, you rinse it off with warm water.

Summary

Before it turns to milk, the consistency of the Pai kukui & jojoba bead exfoliator is a bit stiff. Spreading the gel out over the face works, but actually scrubbing and making those small circles is hard due to the lack of glide. However, with a few drops a water, when the gel has turned milky, I absolutely love it.

I recommend using a tiny bit of water right from the start and gradually increasing, a few drops at a time, to work towards the milky consistency.
