Annmarie Gianni Reviews: the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily & Acne Prone Skin

This is the third facial oil from Annmarie Gianni’s organic skin care line I’m giving a try. After the Herbal Facial Oil for normal & combination skin and the Anti-Aging Facial Oil, I was real curious about the unique aspects of the Herbal Facial oil for oily & acne prone skin.

Packaging

Annmarie Gianni’s facial oils come in a tinted glass airtight bottle with a pump dispenser. Glass is a great material to carry oils and essential oils. The only downside is that it’s heavy, but there is no better way to keep oils fresh and pure. Even sunlight can impact the freshness of oils, hence the importance of using dark glass.

Texture

I find there to be a noticeable difference between all three facial oils in Annmarie Gianni’s line, especially between this one and the anti-aging oil. The anti-aging facial oil clearly feels more rich on my skin. If you have oily or acne-prone skin and are wondering whether rubbing oil on your face is a good idea, let me assure you that this Herbal Facial Oil is absorbed faster than any (matifying) face cream I’ve ever tried. It spreads out easily and leaves no greasy residue.

My only remark is that for someone with dry skin, this might not be enough. I love this oil and the diminishing effect it has on pimples, but my skin is a bit more dry now than it was a few years ago. This is barely enough to get my face through the day. Penetrating the skin so quickly, leaving it so soft and matte, it is as if my skin needs something more nourishing. If you’re looking for an organic moisturizer to treat acne and moisturize your face without being overly rich, that’s really good news, right? If you’d like to try a sample and feel for yourself, just head over here.

Scent

Such a luscious, fresh and natural fragrance! I’m in love (again). Have you ever bent a little twig until it cracked and then smelled the juice inside? There’s some of that scent in the Herbal Facial Oil for oily & acne prone skin, even if it’s just a fraction of the fragrance. There is also some kind of citrus note – probably from the clementine and bitter orange peel. The scent as a whole is once again hard to define, but utterly delicious.

Ingredients

Ingredients, INCI: Love, herb oil (grapeseed oil, white willow bark, rosemary, barberry bark, neem, green tea, basil, bitter orange peel, echinacea, hibiscus flower, goji berry, milk thistle seed, licorice root), fractionated coconut oil, hazelnut oil, passion fruit oil, carrot seed oil, pettigrain oil, rice bran oil, vitamin E tocopherols, buriti fruit oil, red raspberry seed oil, cranberry seed oil, rosehip extract, rosehip seed extract, carrot extract, clementine oil, litsea cubeba oil, frangipani oil, rosemary oleoresin. Organic or Wildcrafted.

Annmarie Gianni’s Herbal Facial Oil for oily & acne prone skin uses infused grapeseed oil, fractionated coconut oil and hazelnut oil as a base.

In comparison with the other facial oils in this line: Jojoba oil and sunflower oil are the first two ingredients in the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. In the Herbal Facial Oil for normal & combination skin, it’s grapeseed oil together with fractionated coconut oil, sunflower oil and olive oil.

Both Herbal Facial Oils share the grapeseed and fractionated coconut oil, non-greasy oils with great absorbtion by the skin. The hazelnut oil in this one is known to penetrate quickly, making it an oil of choice for oily skin with acne. Hazelnut also has wonderful toning and mild astringent properties. And that’s just the basic carrier oils. There are many more plant names on the ingredients list here, with a solid healing reputation. You might recognize neem, echinacea, petitgrain, green tea and basil.

What I like about the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily & Acne Prone Skin

  • Does a very good job on blemishes. Because it’s gentle enough to use all over the face – after all, that’s what it’s for – the Herbal Facial Oil makes a great natural spot and blemish treatment, especially for larger area’s.
  • Once again, the fabulous scent makes me want to permanently own all three of these facial oils. Each one of them has a unique fragrance. The anti-aging one is quite straight forward ‘sandalwood’, which you either love or not. The other two are as mysterious as they are delicious to me.
  • The oil is packed with thirty healing herbs with astringent, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and other healing properties.
  • A little goes a long way.

What I like less about the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily & Acne Prone Skin

  • My skin is still subject to the occasional acne, but also getting more dry than it use to be in my twenties. I think I would have been thrilled to have this Herbal Facial Oil for oily and acne prone skin five or ten years ago. At the present time, my face feels like I need to supplement this oil with something a little more nourishing. I’ve also tried multiple layers. That helps, but you end up using a lot.
  • That being said, even now it seems like a good idea to keep this oil around as a secret weapon a.k.a. pimple-fighting-ninja.

Final Thoughts & Other Organic Skin Care Reviews

I was amazed at the purifying effect of this Herbal Facial Oil on my face in general and blemishes specifically. After one application, overnight, the swelling of a few of these little intruders was reduced to almost zero and the redness was less than half of what it was the day before. Impressive. Making your own organic skin care recipes is fun, but you can’t beat a mixture like this one, a healing cocktail of thirty (!) different botanicals. The comment under ‘what I like less’ isn’t actually negative, it just means I wish I knew about Annmarie Gianni’s Herbal Facial Oil for oily & acne prone skin ten years ago.

Oh, and did I mention I’m really digging the smell…? 😀
