This is the best organic body wash I’ve ever tried. Definitely one of ’em.
Guess that was a spoiler right there – but if you still want to know more, and why, please read on… 🙂
Packaging
The plastic packaging can be recylced. Plastic is Miessence’s deliberate choice to save on transportation costs – towards the environment as well as your wallet. The tall and slender bottle is perfect for in the shower and opens with a simple click.
Texture
Very creamy. Miessence Sunflower body wash is rather thin and a little goes a long way. In case you’re wondering – it does foam. That’s definitely a good feature. Unlike this organic body wash made by Lavera, which has more of a gel-like feel to it and foams very little. With the Miessence one, you only need a very little bit to get some nice lather.
Scent
The fragrance of Miessence Sunflower body wash was surprising. I had no idea what to expect – I mean, have you ever smelled a sunflower? I may have come across a sunflower’s scent at some point – probably while the plant was busy, busy, shooting up to a point way above my head. As stunning as sunflowers are, their scent in particular has never left a memorable imprint in my mental collection of odors. No idea of what to expect of an organic body wash smelling like sunflowers.
Well, as it turns out, Miessence has scented this body wash with a completely different fragrance. Could have known, with all those citrus oils in the ingredient list. Still, it was a lovely surprise – a delicious fresh and creamy scent and the first thing that came to mind was… lemon curd! Yummm.
Ingredients
Ingredients, INCI: certified organic aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, coco glucoside, ceritified organic helianthus anuus (sunflower) seed oil, non-GMO xanthan gum, certified organic citrus dulcis (sweet orange) essential oil, certified organic limonum (lemon) essential oil, certified organic citrus aurantifolia (lime) essential oil, citric acid, citrus aurantium amara (bitter orange) fruit extract.
With five out of nine ingredients being certified organic, Miessence Sunflower body wash is a great choice if you’re looking for some very natural and eco-conscious suds. There aren’t all that many different ingredients in this organic body wash – it’s a fairly simple blend, but the result is quite amazing.

Final Thoughts & More Organic Body Wash Idea’s
Consciously sourced ingredients are more expensive, because they aren’t grown on such a large scale as the ones sprayed with pesticides. Besides, most regular body wash doesn’t even have much plant-based materials in it – not more than a drizzle, for – let’s call it – ‘publicity’ purposes. The ordinary shower gel is made mainly from cheap and synthetic left-over substances of the petroleum industry. As a result, you can’t expect an organic body wash like this one by Miessence to fall into the same low-cost price category as a big bottle of synthetic suds.
I’ve tried some very natural & organic products that were great on all fronts except performance. Thing is, as much as I like my personal care products to be environment- and skin-friendly, the performance part is still kind of crucial. Right?! Miessence has nailed it with this Sunflower organic body wash. Gotta give ’em that.
For twenty bucks you get a nice large bottle and I’m good with less than a quarter-size dollop per shower. That’s not the most expensive organic body wash out there (Hello, Rosemary Peppermint body wash by Annmarie Gianni) but it’s not a super steal either. Perhaps keeping this organic body wash to yourself (most of the time) isn’t such a bad idea.
My Mister loves his Bronner’s anyways, which we get at the local organic store, preferably when it’s on sale 😉 – the liquid version as well as the bars. If you have kids to make re-appear from under a layer of mud and are looking for a more cost-economical ally to their bathing ritual, how this gigantic 16 oz bottle of Kids Natural Body Wash?
It’s okay to behave like a real glam-organic diva occasionally. To be selfish and keep the Sunflower body wash as your very own little daily shower-spa-moment. Especially since there are some awesome other options for men and children. (Uhm – is that one category, or two…?)
