Barefoot SOS Repair + Renew Daily Replenishing Cream Review

Reviewing the Daily Replenishing Cream of the “Repair + Renew” line by Barefoot SOS, a British natural skin care brand.

Packaging

The Daily Replenishing Cream comes in a jar. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this classic way of packaging a cream, except of course that you’ll need to dip your fingers in the jar… So, better make sure they’re clean. If you like to be able to scrape every last bit of product out of its receptacle, then a jar is the perfect thing. An airtight dispensary system sometimes leads to complaints of the last bit of cream or lotion being “inaccessible”, however it does keep the stuff safe and clean in a way that a jar simply can’t.

Texture

This cream is rather thick! My skin loved it, but I can see how a more oily skin type probably wouldn’t like it as much. It tends to leave a little bit of a layer or barrier on the skin. If that nourishment and protection is part of what you’re looking for, great! If not, you may be better off with a lighter lotion or even a facial oil adapted to your skin type. (Did I just point out the richness of this cream, only to point to an oil as a potential solution? Why yes, I sure did! Not all oils are created equal, and the right oil could be just the thing for restoring the balance of an overly oily skin. Strange, but true.)

Scent

Pleasant, and rather faint. Nothing shocking here.

For the purists under us, it does appear to contain some butylene glycol, and ethylhexylglycerin as a preservative. The latter is quite necessary though, to prevent bacterial growth in an open jar. The stuff that grows in improperly preserved skin care can be really nasty, so you won’t hear me complaining about a little bit of preservative here.

What I like about the Barefoot SOS Repair + Renew Daily Replenishing Cream

  • I’m a big fan of rosehip oil, and love that it is one of the main ingredients
  • It’s a nourishing cream that doesn’t cause me any breakouts

What I like less

  • I prefer creams and lotion that aren’t in jars, just because they stay clean.

Final Thoughts

I can’t think of too many bells or whistles when it comes to describing this cream. It was good, in a basic way, I guess. That isn’t a negative thing at all, in fact it’s a plus. This cream became one of my go-to moisturizers simply because it was good on many occasions. I used it morning and/or night, my skin felt nice and soft afterwards, and it worked well all throughout the day. My husband even got some slapped onto his face occasionally. He didn’t complain. I think the “repair and renew”, as well as the “replenishing” in the name of this cream definitely do deliver on their promise. I’d probably repurchase if I didn’t have so many other natural and organic face moisturizers waiting to be given a try, but I wouldn’t rule it out all together.

Barefoot SOS is a British brand. The daily replenishing cream can be found on the American Amazon right here with prices ranging from around $24 to around a whopping $63.

I got mine in a beauty box from LoveLula, but when checking back to include the link, it seems they’ve stopped carrying the brand Barefoot SOS. Just a wild guess, but maybe they shoved all these creams in the beauty boxes, to get rid of some inventory…?

A quick search brought back another online beauty store, where the Daily Replenishing cream is only $24.23 (at the time of writing).
