annmarie aloe herb cleanser review

Ahoy – fresh content alert! This review has been rewritten from scratch with the latest updates.

After venturing through a bunch of other natural and organic skincare products, I’ve come back to the Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser review. It is time for a fresh take on my previous impressions, to see where this cleanser is at.

TL;DR: it’s still delicious and has me smitten all over again. The Aloe Herb Cleanser is the real deal when it comes to taking care of your skin with something highly effective and oh-so-natural. (If you like samples, they’re over here.) That, and a few links for convenience:

Reviewing Annmarie Skin Care Aloe Herb Cleanser

Every time I use Annmarie’s Aloe Herb Cleanser, it feels like taking a secret escapade into a fairy garden, where everything around me smells wonderful.

Then follows the hard landing from that daydream (or evening dream) into the sink, where it gets flushed down the drain together with the grime that has successfully attached itself to my face that day.

Okay, most of that grime is stuff I’ve applied to it, like – you know – makeup. 😉

Using this cleanser every day would be a good thing, undoubtedly. But some days, with kids hijacking deep into my evening routine, it isn’t possible. When I have to lay down impromptu, to nurse, or pretend to be asleep, Burt’s Bees wipes come in handy. They’re sort of gross. Does it feel to you like those really give your face a good cleaning? Not to me. But they catch some of the makeup, which is the best we can do in those moments.

Back to gushing about the Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser. Here’s how it works in use.

Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser In Use

When I wet my face and put a few pumps in my hand, the first thing that stands out is the scent. In a word – Divine.

Having gone without this cleanser for a while makes me appreciate it even more. You know how our minds (and noses) can play us tricks sometimes? Well, no disappointment here – it is indeed as wonderful as I remembered.

Scent

Don’t think I know of any other face cleanser that smells this good. It is a delicate fragrance, nothing too herbal or flowery or sweet. Maybe a hint of verbena, amid the citrus notes?

Scents are hard to describe with words since our sense of smell is such a primal sense. For lack of a better comparison to something realistic, let’s go with a clementine orchard on an early summer morning. Not that I’ve ever walked in a clementine orchard on a summer morning, but this is what it must smell like.

(The full ingredients show plenty of citrus oils, though no verbena. My nose tricked me there – must be something else.)

Texture

The Aloe Herb Cleanser is fluid enough to spread easily, but also quite creamy. The texture is great because it allows for a little going a long way. Once it comes into contact with the water on damp skin, it’s sort of as though it multiplies… and turns into a milky lather.

Massaging the cleanser into my face, sometimes I realize at that moment that I went with wet over damp. Damp is better. Just enough to give some glide. Too wet, and it dilutes the cleanser too much (and I’ll add more, which isn’t necessary on a damp face).

Honestly, I didn’t have very high expectations for this concoction to clean my face thoroughly. And I’ve been blown away more than a few times by how squeaky clean and soft my skin feels after rinsing off and drying.

Other cleansers – for example, the Alba Botanica Hawaiian Facial Wash, Deep Cleansing Coconut Milk – need a second pass and still don’t clean as well as this one.

Packaging

Annmarie Gianni’s Aloe Herb Cleanser comes in a bottle with a pump, in two sizes.

  • 50 ml (about 1.6 oz)
  • 100 ml (about 3.2 oz)

It used to say somewhere on the website that the bottle is made of Miron Violet glass, though at this time I can not locate any such statement. The trial-size bottle is dark plastic and contains 30 ml/1 oz.

Dark glass really protects the ingredients and keeps them fresh. It’s also better for the environment than plastic – it won’t be floating in the ocean – though there may be some exceptions to that logic, as glass costs more fuel to relocate.

Ingredients

These are the old ingredients:

Love, organic aloe vera juice infused with organic herbs (lavender flowers, calendula flowers, life everlasting flowers, hyssop, lemon balm, neem leaf, olive leaf, plantago leaf); organic coconut oil; cocoglucoside (coconut oil & glycerine); organic vegetable glycerine; aspen bark extract; organic ruby grapefruit oil; organic lemon oil; organic green mandarin oil; xanthan gum; organic rosemary oleoresin.

And these are the current ones:

*Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, [Sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate, Lauryl glucoside (saponified oils of coconut oil and plant starches/sugars)], Herb-infused aloe vera juice [*Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, *Calendula officinalis (calendula) flower extract, *Hyssopus officinalis (hyssop) extract, *Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower extract, *Melissa officinalis (lemon balm) leaf extract, *Helichrysum arenarium (life everlasting) flower extract, *Azadirachta indica (neem) leaf extract, *Olea europaea (olive) leaf extract], *Glycerin (vegetable derived), Populus tremuloides (aspen) bark extract, Citrus paradisi (ruby red grapefruit) peel oil, Citrus limon (Italian lemon) peel oil, Citrus reticulata (green mandarin) peel oil, non-GMO Xanthan gum (plant derived), *Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract. *Organically grown or wildcrafted

It looks like there are more ingredients in the newest formula due to different wording. But actually, they are nearly identical, only the plantago leaf appears to have been dropped.

Not a single doubtful or tricky ingredient here. Pure organic bliss in a bottle. If you’re looking for the best organic skin care to clean your face with, you’ve come to the right place.

What I like about the Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser

Pretty much everything, without exaggerating. The smell and the texture are divine. The choice of packaging is both aesthetic ànd sustainable. It leaves my face smooth and clean. The skin doesn’t feel dry after rinsing this cleanser off. Just fresh and luminous.

I’m not the only one raving about this organic facial cleanser. Customer reviews on the Annmarie Gianni official website speak of “a wonderful, energizing, lovely, lemony aroma, troubled areas clearing up after a few days of use.” And: “It smells amazing and makes your skin glow”, “It is perfect for my sensitive skin”, “Smells heavenly”, “Makes your skin look and feel like silk and is worth every penny”.

Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser Downsides

There is nothing I dislike about the actual product. The price tag may be a draw-back depending on your budget.

If you are in the habit of buying higher-end brands, Annmarie Skin Care is a steal compared to Shiseido, la Prairie, or even Helena Rubinstein.

If you normally wash your face with castile soap, this costs more.

Tip: Who likes samples?

Sometimes it seems the skincare industry really doesn’t understand how much we like samples. I mean, how many brands do you know that offer trial sizes? Being able to get your feet wet without over-committing is kind of a deal breaker.

Luckily, the Annmarie Skin Care team gets that. More good news: the Aloe Herb Cleanser is included in this sample kit.

Retro vibes ahead – This is the old packaging.

It wasn’t bad but the new labels are definitely nicer, don’t you think?

Conclusion

Sure thing: the Aloe Herb Cleanser delivers when it comes to removing makeup. Normally, I wear a little foundation or tinted moisturizer, and some eye makeup.

Currently trying a new ILIA mascara, which has been great and is about to sneak its way into the top contenders of this Cruelty-Free Mascara: Top Brands Under $30 round-up.

It’s nothing this cleanser can’t handle. Then again – I don’t ever wear multiple layers of cosmetic products, heavy lashes, and whatnot.

Annmarie Aloe Herb Cleanser smells heavenly, feels fabulous, and is a joy to use. That last part, assuming you like washing your face with water, of course. If you prefer wiping or using cleansing milk or micellar water, this cleanser might not be for you. (But seriously, is there anything better than water on your face at the end of the day? Lotion on a pad can’t level up to that degree of freshness.)

Skin Care Sample Kits

A few times a year, Annmarie Skin Care comes out with a special offer. It usually consists of a sample kit, and something extra.

With summer being eagerly awaited on our side of the planet, right now it’s a sample of Sun Love. Good to know if you’re looking into natural sunscreen alternatives to protect your skin this season!

In the sample kit also hides a generous coupon for $10.00 off any future purchase.

If your skin looks like it is a bit tired of being harrassed by all sorts of unidentified ‘things’, it might be time to switch to this top-quality, purely natural organic skin care.

You can now give the Aloe Herb Cleanser a try, combined with one of the delicious facial oils and an anti-aging serum. Read what other people are saying in their reviews on AnnmarieGianni.com.
