In short: it is awesome. Don’t be put off by the dark green color, you’ll be rewarded with velvety soft skin.

Packaging

The brightening facial scrub comes in a nice, big tube with an attached cap, thank goodness. Scrubbing tends to get messy and a loose cap would probably add a fair bit of juggling to the endeavor. While bathrooms are great places for many things, juggling isn’t one of those. 😉

Texture

Acure has nailed it with the texture of this scrub!

Some scrubs are too runny, some are too stiff. Some fall apart while you’re trying to slap some on your face and for the most part land in the sink instead… Not the brightening facial scrub. Its texture is quite perfect. When I squeeze some on a fingertip the dollop remains in place no problem. Spreading the brightening facial scrub out over a slightly wet face works very well too. This scrub has just the right amount of stickiness to not fall off, and once you start making those little “scrubbing circles”, you can feel the particles do their job.

Scent

Acure’s brightening facial scrub has a pleasant scent, but its fragrance is nothing too prominent. I would call it a bit grassy and a little earthy perhaps, which makes total sense with the French green clay it contains.

Ingredients

Ingredients, INCI: water/eau, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, euterpe oleracea (acai) fruit extract*, rubus fruticosus (blackberry) fruit extract*, rosa canina (rosehips) fruit extract*, punica granatum (pomegranate) fruit extract*, calendula officinalis (calendula) flower extract*, matricaria recutita (chamomile) flower extract*, aspalathus linearis (rooibos) leaf extract*, vegetable glycerin, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, juglans reglia (walnut shell) flour, kaolin (french green) clay, sodium lauroamphoacetate, sodium PCA, sodium lauroyl lactylate, citrus limon (lemon) peel granules, glyceryl Laurate, sodium cocoyl isethionate, cellulose gum, glucono delta lactone, chlorophyll, chrondus crispus extract, potassium sorbate, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, argania spinosa (argan) culture extract, chlorella vulgaris extract, salvia officinalis (sage) leaf extract, mentha spicata (spearmint) leaf extract, laminaria digitata (kelp) powder, lilium candidum leaf (madonna leaf) culture extract. *organic ingredient

The first eight ingredients, all the way up until the vegetable glycerin (not counting the first ingredient, which is water) are from organically grown plants. The particles responsible for most of the actual scrubbing are made of walnut shells, although the French green clay probably also does some of that scrubbing on a much smaller, finer level.

I thought I noticed something lemony in the scent of the scrub, which now makes sense and could be related to the lemon peel granules.

Acure Organics Brightening Facial Scrub • Pro’s

  • Love the natural ingredients.
  • It has a nice, rather discrete scent that isn’t overpowering.
  • Love how it doesn’t stick to the sink after use, and is easily rinsed with water.
  • Bonus points for the generous size of the tube, which should last quite a while.

Acure Organics Brightening Facial Scrub • Cons

  • No negative points to report thus far.

Final Thoughts

There’s something very fun about the texture and color of this scrub. With the dark green paste on my face, my brain can’t quite decide if this falls under getting down & dirty (as in: rolling in the mud) or under a luxurious spa treatment. But one doesn’t have to exclude the other, right? In fact, that’s exactly what a spa is: a fancy way to refer to the application of mud, ha!

Right after use, my skin feels very soft. After using the brightening facial scrub a few times, I believe I do notice somewhat more of a glow. Overall, I’m really happy with this scrub and will keep using it. If you like shopping on Amazon, you can find it here, or by clicking on the image.
