Review of Aubrey’s Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner.
Packaging
The Moisturizing Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner from Aubrey Organics comes in an 11 oz bottle. The bottle is made of white plastic, light weight and recycleable.
Texture
Creamy white and thick, also a bit shimmery. After the first few uses, you have to squeeze the bottle really hard to get it out. Maybe I just don’t have very strong hands. 🙂 Giving the bottle a good upside-down shake helps. Near the end, I just place it upside down in the shower. Problem solved. The thick texture is very pleasant to use, it doesn’t drip and you don’t loose any of the product between your fingers, while moving it from bottle to scalp. A little goes a long way. I have very long hair and one squeeze is enough. Just spread between both hands, rub it on the lenghts and spread out a bit, that’s all you need for nourishment and easy combing.
As soon as the Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner comes into contact with the hair (either wet or dry), it starts feeling very slippery and it’s as if it melts into the hair. Because it sort of disappears, you could think you need more, and more, and more… but there’s no need for that. Just trust that it’s still there. As soon as the rinsing moment comes, you can feel the conditioner again, with the hair getting extremely smooth. De-tangling is a breeze.
You can also apply it to dry hair, by the way. Leave it on for half an hour or so, then wash as usual. What a great way to have an organic conditioner and hair mask in one.
Scent
Delicious. By the way, my hair isn’t even that dry. One of the organic conditioners for ‘normal’ hair could very well be enough, but I selected the Honeysuckle Rose one purely on fragrance. It’s sweet and flowery.
Ingredients
Ingredients, INCI:Â aqua, cetyl alcohol, alcohol denat., organic shea butter, wheat germ oil, honeysuckle extract, organic aloe leaf juice, glycerin, organic jojoba seed oil, organic rosehip seed oil, grapefruit extract, tocopheryl acetate, fennel fruit extract, hops extract, melissa leaf extract, chamomile extract, soybean oil, carrot root extract, beta-carotene, witch hazel water, angelica extract, chrysanthemum flower extract, magnolia flower extract, ascorbic acid.Â
Nice. Finally an ingredient list showing none of the preservatives that are so popular in (otherwise very good) natural or organic shampoo and conditioner such as phenoxyethanol or ethylhexylglycerin. It looks like Aubrey Organics uses the same strategy as Weleda and preserves with alcohol.
I’ll take natural plant-derived alcohol over synthetics, but if you prefer an organic conditioner without alcohol, Miessence’s Shine Herbal Hair Conditioner could be the one for you.
What I like about Aubrey Organics’ Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner
- Very rich, a little bit is enough. (Too much will weigh my hair down. That’s not a bad thing, on the contrary – it shows this is a very nourishing product.)
- Friendly priced and economical in use.
- Clean ingredients. No toxins.
- Love Aubrey Organics’ ethics as a company.
- Divine smell, close your eyes and step out of the shower into a summer garden for a few minutes!
What I like less about Aubrey Organics’ Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner
When something’s good, it’s good, right? I don’t see the need to desperately search for something to improve in a fine all-natural organic conditioner. This one’s definitely a keeper.
Final thoughts & other Organic Hair Care Reviews
This conditioner has saved my life, after going so green that I wouldn’t use any conditioner at all for months! Just because I couldn’t manage to find one without junk in it.
First I ditched ‘Herbal Essences’ and other garbage. ‘Yes to Carrots’ Shampoo and Conditioner ruled over my shower for a while. They seemed fairly natural, but as I learned more about ingredients, a closer look at the labels still showed some ‘unwanted’ substances. ‘Yes to Carrots’ went out the window and along came the era of frizzy, pouffy, dry-on-top-but-greasy-underneath, extremely un-manageable hair. (By the way – the baking soda method? No thank you.)
I almost wanted to go back to using chemical stuff, but somehow persisted in my search for the perfect natural organic hair products. Now, Aubrey’s organic conditioner has given me back the pleasure of washing my hair. And the joy of not having to spend half an hour combing through knots afterwards. That makes me a happy hippie. 🙂
Where to find it? Check out this spot for natural and herbal hair care products. They have Aubrey’s organic shampoo and conditioner for other hair types too.
Pricetag: Online it’s $11 for a bottle of 11 oz. (In stores a bit more.)
